Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry can be used in a variety of dental procedures to improve patient comfort & results. In many cases, lasers eliminate the need for drills, anesthesia & reduce post-procedure discomfort & healing times. Lasers may be used in procedures such as root canals, gum disease treatment, cavity detection, tooth whitening & to set & harden restorative materials, such as crowns. Rashmi Bhatnagar, DDS is specially trained in laser dentistry & will use lasers when it is appropriate for your dental care.

Bonding

Bonding is the quick & painless way to restore your smile’s natural beauty. If your smile is dulled by chips, stains, cracks or misaligned teeth, bonding can help you reclaim it in a single visit. During the bonding procedure, a thin coat of plastic or resin is painted over the damaged teeth, strengthening them & making them virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Digital X-Rays

BellaVista DentalCare offers in-office digital x-rays for your convenience. Digital x-rays are computer-generated images that require up to 90% less radiation than conventional film-type x-rays. Instead of using the traditional silver-oxide x-ray film, which must be developed & then fixed in caustic & environmentally damaging solutions, the new system takes pictures via a small electronic sensor. A picture of the tooth is instantaneously transmitted onto the monitor in the treatment room so we can see your teeth & surrounding structures immediately.

X-rays, also known as radiographs, have long been part of preventive care in dentistry. X-rays pass through the soft tissues of the face & mouth (lips, cheeks, etc.) & are absorbed by the hard material of teeth & bone. This allows the dentist to see potential oral health issues that may not be easily visible to the naked eye. X-rays are used primarily to find cavities, but dentists also use them to look at tooth roots, the health of bone surrounding the tooth, to assess possible periodontal (gum) disease problems & to keep track of development in younger patients.

The immediacy of digital x-rays allows the dentist to assess the health of your teeth & identify potential problems right away. Because the images from digital x-rays are available immediately, the dentist can also share these images with you while you’re still in the dental chair, allowing you to see & understand your oral health condition as the dentist explains it.

Emergency Dental Care

We recognize that dental emergency situations do arise, & at BellaVista DentalCare, we will do our best to respond to your problem promptly. Whether it is something as simple as a tooth filling or a complicated procedure, we can provide you with assistance. If the problem arises when the offices are closed, our answering service will forward your message to our dentists.

The most common reasons our patients need emergency dentistry are accidents or toothaches. Toothaches can be caused by infection or by injuries. If you are suffering from a toothache, don’t hesitate to call us immediately. We will get you in as soon as possible & figure out what is going on so we can relieve your pain.

A tooth that has been knocked out or cracked is perhaps the most critical dental emergency. If your tooth has been knocked out in an accident, seeing a dentist as soon as possible is vital to saving your tooth. In the meantime before you get to the dentist, you can take steps to keep your tooth alive, including gently trying to place the tooth back in its socket (without touching the root), keeping the tooth between your gums & lip, placing it in a glass of milk, or placing it in an ADA-approved tooth preservation kit. If your dental emergency is potentially life-threatening, you should go to the emergency room.

Even if you have never been to our office before, we are happy to help you during a dental emergency. Please contact us immediately if you are in urgent need of care.

Family Dentistry

At BellaVista DentalCare, we practice dentistry for the entire family. We understand that adults & children have different needs & we address them all. Adults want the best technology, the most informed doctors & the highest-quality care, while kids want to be comfortable & respected. We offer the best of both worlds. Best of all, our dentists have extensive experience working with children & teens, so we can make the dental experience more enjoyable for everyone.

Teaching your kids the right way to take care of their smile is very important. Dr. Bhatnagar would be glad to give both you & your child the oral hygiene education you need ito keep you clean & cavity-free. Begin daily brushing as soon as the child’s first tooth comes in. A pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste can be used after the child is old enough to not swallow it. By age 4 or 5, children should be able to brush their own teeth twice a day with supervision. This supervision should continue until about age 7, in order to make sure they are doing a thorough job. However, each child’s progress will be different. Flossing removes plaque between the teeth, where a toothbrush can’t reach. Flossing should begin when any two teeth touch. You may wish to floss the child’s teeth until he or she can do it alone. Don’t forget behind the four teeth in the back!

These oral hygiene tips are important, especially for your kids. By educating them at a younger age, they’ll have the correct knowledge to provide them with a lifetime of excellent dental health! Call BellaVista DentalCare for your appointment & consultation today!

Oral Cancer Screening

Early detection is key in the battle against cancer & this is no different with oral cancer. Even if you don’t smoke, keep in mind that 25% of oral cancer diagnoses are for non-smokers. It’s important that every patient receive a simple & pain-free oral cancer screening from Dr. Bhatnagar . Remember that when caught early, oral cancer has an 80 to 90% survival rate. So don’t put off your oral cancer screening another minute!

Sealants & Fluoride Treatments

Sealants are highly effective in preventing tooth decay on the biting surfaces of chewing teeth. A sealant is a simple procedure in which Rashmi Bhatnagar, DDS places a clear or tooth-colored acrylic “coating” onto the surface of the tooth. This effectively “seals” the deep grooves where decay is most likely to begin. This technique is usually done on permanent molars as soon as they have come in enough to be sealed. Sometimes primary molars have grooves deep enough to require sealing, as well. At less than half the cost of conventional fillings & without any anesthetics or drilling, sealants are one of the most important preventive tools BellaVista DentalCare offers. Sleep Apnea & Snoring Appliances

Did you know that people with sleep apnea can stop breathing for roughly 10-30 seconds at a time while they are sleeping? This can happen 5 to 30 or more times per hour, & hundreds of times throughout the night! If you suffer from sleep apnea or snoring, we can help. Through the use of oral appliances, you’ll avoid the health consequences of sleep apnea, including increased rates of depression, diabetes, heart disease & stroke. These devices will also help relieve snoring, leading to a better night’s rest for you & your partner. For more information, call BellaVista DentalCare today at 480-598-5900!

Periodontics

Periodontal (gum) disease can lead to more than just an unsightly smile—it can cause loss of teeth & eventually, if left untreated, other more serious health problems. Called gingivitis in its early stages, periodontal disease is caused by excessive toxic bacteria (found in plaque) that attack your mouth’s soft tissues. Early warning signs of this disease include red, swollen or bleeding gums. If caught early, we can help you reverse the damage. If detected late, we can use one of the many effective restorative dentistry procedures to restore your mouth to its healthy & beautiful state. Let the doctors at BellaVista DentalCare help you keep your teeth & gums strong & disease-free with regular examinations & cleanings.
